O MTV Video Music Awards de 2020, uma das maiores premiações da música, elegeu hoje os melhores artistas internacionais em diversas categorias. Depois de muitas incertezas, o evento aconteceu ao vivo e ao ar livre, em Nova York (EUA), com shows em várias regiões da cidade e também em Los Angeles.
Essa foi a primeira grande premiação ao vivo desde o início da pandemia do coronavírus.
Além de ser homenageada com o primeiro TRICON Award, da MTV, Lady Gaga também recebeu outros quatro prêmios —um deles, na categoria “Artista do Ano”. Ao receber o troféu, a musa declarou. “Todo mundo sempre soube, se estivessem saindo comigo, que eu estava em uma missão de espalhar alegria pela cultura, pela dança, pela música.”
Já The Weeknd, que iniciou o VMA com um show faraônico, desbancou Lady Gaga e levou o principal prêmio da noite, na categoria Clipe do Ano, por “Blinding Lights”.
Nesta edição, foram criadas duas categorias para reconhecer o trabalho de artistas e produtores que continuaram produzindo durante a pandemia: Melhor Performance da Quarentena e Melhor Clipe Caseiro.

Performance triunfal
Lady Gaga e Ariana Grande fizeram performance triunfal durante o VMA 2020, levando fãs à loucura nas redes sociais. Usando sempre looks extravagantes, as duas musas apresentaram juntas o hit “Rain on Me” — vencedor nas categorias Música do Ano, Melhor Colaboração e Melhor Fotografia.
Gaga também foi homenageada com o primeiro TRICON Award, da MTV. “Eu nunca imaginei que poderia ganhar um prêmio como esse, que me honrasse por tudo que sou. Eu espero que as pessoas que estão em casa, que também têm sonhos, saibam que vocês também podem fazer isso. Eu sei que um novo tempo está surgindo e sei que a cultura pop vai inspirar todos vocês. A arte vai empoderar todos vocês!”, afirmou ela, surpresa.
Ariana Grande também faturou quatro prêmios no “VMA 2020” —um deles pela parceria com Justin Bieber, “Stuck with U”, na categoria Melhor Clipe Caseiro.
